NAIS institutes are grounded in best practices in adult learning and provide our members with intensive training and peer networks that will educate and sustain both the individual and the school community.

Inclusive Schools Network Institute

NAIS is partnering with Gender Spectrum, a national leader in creating gender sensitive and positively responsive environments for all children and teens, to present the Inclusive Schools Network Institute (ISNI). This institute, customized for the unique needs of independent schools, students, families, and communities, will be the gateway to Gender Spectrum’s national community of practice.

Diversity Leadership Institute

The Diversity Leadership Institute (DLI) is an engaging, trusted community of practice that helps educators meet today’s challenges and transform them into opportunities for innovation and strategic change.

Institute for New Heads

July 9-15, 2023; Emory Conference Center, Atlanta, GA (followed by online programming through July 2024)

The Institute for New Heads (INH) is a highly regarded program for individuals starting their first or second year of headship. You'll gain the knowledge of seasoned heads, the understanding and support of fellow new heads, and the tools to thrive as a leader. 

Equity Design Lab

The Equity Design Lab (EDL) is a leadership and professional development experience that encourages participants to use and share design principles, action research, collaborative skill-building, and best and emerging practices. The goal is to develop innovative solutions and models that independent schools can use to address challenges and opportunities related to equity and social justice inside and out of the classroom.

School Leadership Institute

July 25-28, 2023; The National Conference Center, Leesburg, VA

The School Leadership Institute (SLI) is an intensive, three-day residential program that will help you better understand your own leadership style and identify your strengths as well as areas for growth in five key facets of independent school leadership.

Leadership Through Partnership

October 13-15, 2023; Grand Hyatt Washington, Washington, DC
Registration for this institute is now open.

The Leadership Through Partnership (LTP) workshop provides your school’s head and board leader(s) the chance to collaborate and strengthen their partnership. Away from busy day-to-day life, they can identify shared goals for their school. Together, they will learn more about the challenges that their school—and the independent school community—are facing.
